Life Everlasting

Helichrysum slide-tightcrop

The appellation helichrysum  is a composite of the Greek words for sun (helios ) and gold (chrysos ), sonamed because the flowers resemble small golden suns. Its common name: Immortelle , or Life Everlasting, derives from the fact that the flowers do not wither. Also, when dried, the plant keeps the same shape and aspect, and the flowers, the same yellow color they had when alive. Perhaps for this reason, it was once considered to have magical powers.
